Emergency Care
At Parklands we are proud to be able to offer our clients local veterinary care 24/7. Our team can be contacted at any time of the day or night on their usual phone numbers.
Our main Out of Hours (OOH) service is based at the Dungannon clinic. A vet will be on call through the night looking after the inpatients and treating emergencies. We also have a nurse on call who stays in the practice and ensures that all of our patients receive the best possible care.
Drumahoe and Portglenone are geographically farther away and cover their own OOH to ensure our clients are always looked after. But should an emergency arise where intensive care, hospitalisation or emergency surgery is needed, then it is likely that your pet will have to travel to the Dungannon branch once stabilised. The vets at Drumahoe and Portglenone will advise you on what is necessary or best for your pet’s condition.
Blood Transfusions:
- We have facilities for blood collection and blood transfusions and can provide a rapid emergency response to acute trauma patients, such as pets that are involved in road accidents.
- Each branch has a list of local blood donors, but we usually will put up a post on social media asking for donors, these donors are then added to the lists for future pets in need of blood.
- If you think your pet would be able to donate blood in future emergency cases then please get in touch and contact us.
- Suitable pets should be calm, and not get stressed when visiting the vets
- Donors should be healthy and on no current medication
- Not have received a blood transfusion themselves
- Aged between 1 and 8 years old
- Cannot have travelled outside of the UK and Ireland
- Dogs need to be over 25kg
- Cats should be over 4kg
