Referrals at Parklands
We offer certificate led referrals and invite both first and second opinion cases. Parklands are passionate about keeping referral level work accessible and available to first opinion clients.
We recognise that the cost of accessing referral services can be prohibitive for some clients and aim to offer a more affordable experience. We have the facilities and experience to support our neighbours with complex surgeries and outpatient diagnostics at affordable prices. We currently offer ophthalmology, medicine, orthopaedic surgery and soft tissue surgery.
We work in partnership with you and are committed to providing prompt communication and compassionate care, while ensuring your patient is always directed back to you on completion of treatment.
We’re committed to making things as easy as possible for referring vets and nurses, with access to our team whenever you need us and the ability to follow the case through every stage of treatment.

Liz Black
Senior Veterinary Surgeon (Small Animal) MRCVS
BVMS BSAVA PgCertSAM MRCVSLiz has been working with Parklands since 2015. Liz really enjoys interesting medical cases as well as surgical cases. She has recently passed her Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.
Outside of work Liz enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and being in nature.
Liz Black heads up our medical case referral and will investigate and manage complex cases lead by the client finances and needs of the patient. We will work with you.
Our team and facilities allow us to investigate medicine cases to a very high standard. Internal medicine involves the diagnosis and management of conditions of the major body systems.
We use investigative techniques as well as thorough clinical examination and the history of your pet to establish what your animal is suffering from and how best we can treat it. Investigations may include blood tests, xrays, ultrasound scans, endoscopy and various techniques for sampling body tissues.
Intravenous fluids are a core component of our treatment for sick pets and we use automatic infusion pumps and syringe drivers to ensure that your pet gets the correct amount of fluids at appropriate rates.
We are responsible for our own out of hours cases and so our vet and nursing team are used to diagnosing and treating a wide variety of complex medical cases. As well as managing and supporting them overnight. Liz Black, one of the Senior Vets holds an BSAVA certificate in Small Animal Medicine and helps to keep the entire team up to date with current advances in medicine.
We also have separate isolation facilities away from the main wards allowing us to deal with infectious diseases such as Parvovirus, Canine Cough and Cat Flu, without posing a risk to other patients. Our main working areas, kennels and isolation facility all have separate ventilation systems so that air from infectious areas is always moved away from the main areas. We operate a foot bathing system and barrier nursing in our isolation area.
If your pet is diagnosed with a condition that requires medical treatment then our vets will explain the condition and treatment options. Your vet will discuss the most appropriate plan for your pet and based on your pet’s welfare, expected outcomes and cost. We know when your pet becomes ill it can be expensive and therefore we advice all of our clients to consider insuring their pets when they are well so that they don’t need to worry when unfortunate situations arise.
See out Pet Insurance page for more details and advice.
We welcome referrals and second opinions from other vets, if interested please contact us on the referral form.
