Emergency Care Out Of Hours

For All Animal Species, we answer all emergency calls as a practice personally.

  • We DO NOT rely on any external emergency service.
  • Within any one night we  have 5 vets on call for our clients across the practice. The Out Of Hours service runs from 7pm to 8:30am weekdays and from 5pm on Saturday through to 8:30am on Monday. Pets should be brought to the surgery for examination as we have all the emergency facilities on hand with extensive equipment and medicines. House calls may be arranged in exceptional circumstances.

Our Veterinary Surgeries are accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). This means our staff, buildings, equipment, service and hygiene are of the highest standard. The practice provides its own Emergency service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency cases and in-patient care. When you telephone Out Of Hours, you will be answered by our own members of staff who will take your details and pass them onto one of 5 Duty Vets on duty. We do not use outside Out Of Hours providers nor Corporate service and see all emergencies in our own clinics where we have all the relevant clinical history.

When the surgery is closed we always have a vet on duty in case of emergencies and to deal with any animals hospitalised in the practice for treatment. The out of hours will always be based at our own surgery with staff you know and you will not need to trail hours across the country to a remote out of hours care centre. This means we always have your notes and previous history to hand and usually saves time.

If the surgery is closed, we answer the phone in person, and will take your details and pass your number \ details onto the relevant out of hours vet directly, not a call centre. You can then discuss the case and decide what needs to be done with the veterinary surgeon directly. Should your pet need to be kept in the surgery when we are closed and especially over night, the on-duty vet will admit them to our under floor heated kennels where they will be kept on vet beds and treated according to their condition. When the practice is closed, will check on your pet at appropriate times relative to the severity of it’s problem and the degree of clinical help that can be administered to that condition.

FEES:

  • Consultations with the vet outside normal working hours are more expensive than day time examinations but we are happy to provide free advice on the phone to guide you as to whether or not your pet requires an emergency examination.
  • We make every effort to keep our charges affordable. To help us, we ask that payment is made at the time of treatment. We accept payment by cash, cheque, credit or debit card.
