A ‘microchip’ is a tiny device, about the size of a grain of rice, designed to be injected under an animal’s skin.  Each chip carries a unique identification code which can be scanned using a small handheld device. Vets, dog wardens, rescue charities and other organisations dealing with lost pets are equipped with these scanners.

At implantation (a straightforward injection) owner’s details and microchip code are registered for life at a central database.

We strongly recommend that ALL pets are microchipped, not only for owner piece of mind but to help us when stray pets are brought in having lost any other form of identification. It is a small fee to pay for the cost of the microchip, implantation and lifetime registration on the national pet database. Microchipping is now compulsory for all dogs in N. Ireland and attracts a significant fine from the council if your dog is caught without one. All microchips implanted by ourselves are registered on the identibase national UK database and as such you pet can be traced from anywhere in the world so long as clients keep  their contact details uptodate.
